2020 vs. ellemilla, it's on! - ellemilla

2019: thank you for the lessons!
2020: let's do this!

A year full of routine

How am i doing? With us? With our family? The answer is right! blissful! (but busy!)

A lot has happened in the past year ... We got married, we found our dream home, Cis went to the first grade, ellemillashop celebrated her 4th birthday and although the days seemed too short, we continued to shoot and enjoyed! ☺️

A year full of routine and (even though I had promised this to myself and you ...) a little too little creativity! And that, dear people ... That is perhaps the only downside that I have gotten a bit lost in the past few years!

So may I just sit down, have a cup of tea and pour myself out in a small emotional update 😌

Feel free to also have a nice cup of tea, because I have the feeling that we can sit here for a while! ☕️

Where it all started

The ellemillashop originated from a hobby that got out of hand!
While in my teens and early twenties I immersed myself in fashion, photography and art I found my creativity in the children's world!

When Cis was born I made fun garlands, paintings, prints and other accessories for the nursery! You could always see these on the blog and instagram and soon I received many requests from other mothers to make something nice for them as well.
We had to do something with that! We would start a lifestyle shop for moms and kids, with a lot of own work but also with nice brands for kids AND a little clothing for moms!

Story of our life

It was amazing! Vin was born immediately after the opening of the shop and so we started the ellemilla adventure very hectic! (story of our live!)

With the baby on my lap and toddler by my side, I sew my slings by hand day in, day out ... Even at the table with family or friends, I always took my boxes of felt and sewing supplies with me so that I could continue working!

At a certain point we knew that this was no longer feasible ...
The women's clothing went like a train and I had to accept the fact that I couldn't use all my precious time sewing! Because of course 101 other things had to be done ...

No sooner said than done! We went all out for the fashion side and I enjoyed it so much. I really found my thing!
I could certainly use my creativity in my photography and styling.

The more clothes the better!

In the meantime, thanks to your great purchases and support, ellemilla kept growing and we bought more and more must-haves!
I thought keep going 💪 The more clothes the better ... Because yes ...
You want to be able to offer something new every week ?!

I still agree with all these decisions because I also realize that you guys liked and like it and maybe that's why I kept going!

No days of vacation, few moments of rest, the train had to keep going BECAUSE I still had to prepare another drop!
Every day on the photo, edit photos, change clothes countless times and again ... You notice, a lot of routine!

The less routine, the more life!

But dear dear people ... May I secretly tell you something ...
I'm tired ... Tired of that routine ... Not in the sense that I hang my head and cry in bed ... No ... The show must go on! ⚡️ Besides, I really love what I do.

But how I miss that time at the table when I had to sew garlands endlessly ...

... That I could brainstorm or paint for hours on my favorite music! .... That I could dive into books from my favorite designers and photographers and then work with even more energy.
.... The time when I could be endlessly creative and the days always looked different!
... That I had a lot of time to dream and design things ... Search for fabrics and feel them, hold them and then create things.

I know who she is, she just forgot a while

Oh, my God, I miss that so much...
Don't get me wrong, I love doing the ellemilla shop, every day I am so happy that I can and can do this, but by going along with that routine every day I am a bit lost myself and ellemilla! I miss them... I miss creating it!

Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties.

The first step to self-love is self-care!

Who am I? Who's ellemilla?
ellemilla is creative and a dreamer...
And ellemillashop can be more than just scoring and selling nice outfits. I want to offer more than that, I want to surprise and dwell on the collections for longer... And I don't just give that to myself, I want you to!

About a few months ago I came to realize that sometimes I felt a bit of "sadness" or homesickness when I looked back at posts and memories from a few years ago...
And then came the realization, sadness is not always bad, but I am the only one who can do something about that piece of grief... Accepting it and finding a solution!

Back to my old self

So I promised myself I'd do something different.
2020 will really be a year of creativity!
The first steps have been taken, and I can inform you that the start of the new collection will look a little different than you are used to me nowadays!

No worries... ellemilla remains ellemilla and you will still be able to come to me for endless must-haves, but that piece of creativity is coming back! A gift for myself and I think (hope) for you too!

That's all I want to say about that... Just that it feels good! I have a lot of enthusiasm and I am happy to become more ellemilla again!

Of course I will tell you more about the new plans soon!
Are you curious? Excited, huh? Believe me girls, me too! ☺️

To be continued...

Love

Sarah ❤️
